About Emmely
I am Emmely Treffers, a sewing enthusiast from the Netherlands. I live in the Leiden area with my husband and two daughters and I am currently working as a senior researcher in molecular virology. With my quilting patterns and sewing blog I want to infect as many people as possible with my love for sewing.
Sewing is my creative outlet and I use it as a way to relax. When I was small I did some occasional hand sewing but never made any huge projects. This changed when I attended a sewing machine course in 2009 and I have never looked back. I started to make a lot of my own clothes and a bit later also took up quilting. Nowadays I mostly sew quilts but I still enjoy creating garments.
For me the best part of sewing is figuring out how to put something together to make it work. This can be a specific patchwork design or the best order in which to construct a bag. I’ve always loved to make tutorials for my blog to explain certain techniques and in 2021 I took it up a notch and started Infectious Stitches to design my own PDF sewing patterns to help other quilters create unique modern quilts.
On this website you can find my patterns and read about my sewing adventures.
